Anansi Publishing

Anansi is the Akan spider god of stories and wisdom, born in Ghana. He outsmarts the powerful so that ordinary people may have stories of their own. That is our purpose. Anansi Publishing exists to return what was always ours — the extraordinary lives, the ancient civilisations, the acts of courage that quietly shaped the world. In English and African languages. For every child. Everywhere.

About Founder

Yvonne Ackuaku, founder of Anansi Publishing

Yvonne Ackuaku is the founder of Anasi Publishing, a company dedicated to sharing powerful and often overlooked stories from across the African diaspora. Her work shines a light on individuals of African descent who have made meaningful contributions to the world but remain under-recognised.

Driven by a belief in the importance of identity, representation and understanding, Yvonne writes to help young readers develop a strong sense of who they are and take pride in their heritage. She is equally committed to ensuring that children from all backgrounds are exposed to African history and culture, helping to broaden perspectives, challenge stereotypes and foster greater mutual respect.

Through her work, Yvonne aims to contribute to a more informed, inclusive and empathetic world for the next generation.
